Is there anyone who is a devout lover of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival! Is there anyone who is a grateful servant? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord! Are there any weary with fasting? Let them now receive their wages! If any have toiled from the first hour, let them receive their due reward; If any have come after the third hour, let him with gratitude join in the Feast! And he that arrived after the sixth hour, let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss. And if any delayed until the ninth hour, let him not hesitate; but let him come too. And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour, let him not be afraid by reason of his delay. For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first. He gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour, as well as to him that toiled from the first. To this one He gives, and upon another He bestows. He accepts the works as He greets the endeavor. The deed He honors and the intention He commends. Let us all enter into
the joy of the Lord! You that have kept the fast, and you that have not, rejoice today for the Table is richly laden! Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one. Let no one go away hungry. Partake, all, of the cup of faith. Enjoy all the riches of His goodness! Let no one grieve
at his poverty, for the universal kingdom has been revealed. He destroyed Hades when He descended into it. He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh. Isaiah foretold this when he said, "You, O Hell, have been troubled by encountering Him below." Hell was in an uproar because it was done away with. It was in an uproar because it is mocked. It was in an uproar,
for it is destroyed. Hell took a body,
and discovered God. O death, where is
thy sting? Christ is Risen Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen To Him be Glory and
Power forever and ever. Amen! |
Easter IVINTROIT. Psalm 33:5-6. The loving-kindness of the Lord filleth the whole world, alleluia: by the word of God the heavens were stablished, alleluia, alleluia. Psalm 33:1. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for it becometh well the just to be thankful. Glory be.... The loving-kindness.... COLLECT. O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd ôf thy people: Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calleth us each by nâme, and follow where he doth lead; who, with thee and the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth, ône God, for ever and ever. Amen. The Lesson from the Acts of the Holy Apostles. In those days, the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, the son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet. PSALM. 23. THE LORD is my shepherd; therefore can I lack nothing. He shall feed me in a green pasture, and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort. He shall convert my soul, and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness for his Name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff comfort me. Thou shalt prepare a table before me in the presence of them that trouble me; thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full. Surely thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. The Lesson from the First Epistle of John. Dearly beloved, behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Alleluia. John 10:11-16. I am the good shepherd: and I know mine own sheep, and am known of mine. Alleluia. The Continuation of the Holy Gospel At that time, Jesus said, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. The Creed is said. OFFERTORY. Psalm 63:1, 5. O God, thou art my God, early will I seek thee: and lift up my hands in thy Name, alleluia. SECRET. O Lord, we pray thee, that from these mysteries we may obtain such succour of thy grace, that refraining ourselves from the desire of all things earthly, we may learn to love all such things as are heavenly. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. COMMUNION. John 10:14. I am the good shepherd, alleluia: and I know my sheep, and am known of mine, alleluia, alleluia. POSTCOMMUNION. O Lord our God, who hast made us partakers of this hôly Sacrament: grant we beseech thêe; that we may be thereby inwardly satisfied with heavenly food, and outwardly defended against all adversities. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lôrd, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever ône God, world without end. Amen. |
