Is there anyone who is a devout lover of God? Let them enjoy this beautiful bright festival! Is there anyone who is a grateful servant? Let them rejoice and enter into the joy of their Lord! Are there any weary with fasting? Let them now receive their wages! If any have toiled from the first hour, let them receive their due reward; If any have come after the third hour, let him with gratitude join in the Feast! And he that arrived after the sixth hour, let him not doubt; for he too shall sustain no loss. And if any delayed until the ninth hour, let him not hesitate; but let him come too. And he who arrived only at the eleventh hour, let him not be afraid by reason of his delay. For the Lord is gracious and receives the last even as the first. He gives rest to him that comes at the eleventh hour, as well as to him that toiled from the first. To this one He gives, and upon another He bestows. He accepts the works as He greets the endeavor. The deed He honors and the intention He commends. Let us all enter into
the joy of the Lord! You that have kept the fast, and you that have not, rejoice today for the Table is richly laden! Feast royally on it, the calf is a fatted one. Let no one go away hungry. Partake, all, of the cup of faith. Enjoy all the riches of His goodness! Let no one grieve
at his poverty, for the universal kingdom has been revealed. He destroyed Hades when He descended into it. He put it into an uproar even as it tasted of His flesh. Isaiah foretold this when he said, "You, O Hell, have been troubled by encountering Him below." Hell was in an uproar because it was done away with. It was in an uproar because it is mocked. It was in an uproar,
for it is destroyed. Hell took a body,
and discovered God. O death, where is
thy sting? Christ is Risen Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen To Him be Glory and
Power forever and ever. Amen! |
Easter VINTROIT. Psalm 98:1,3. O sing unto the Lord a new song, alleluia: for the Lord hath done marvelous things, alleluia: in the sight of the nations hath he showed his righteous judgments, alleluia, alleluia. Ps. 98:2. With his own right hand and with his holy arm: hath he gotten himself the victory. Glory be.... O sing.... COLLECT. O Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlâsting life: Grant us so perfectly to know thy Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the lîfe, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leadeth to eternal life; through the same Jesus Christ our Lôrd, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, ône God, for ever and ever. Amen The Lesson from the Acts of the Holy Apostles In those days: The next sabbath day after Paul first spoke in the synagogue
at Antioch of Pisidia, came almost the whole city together to hear the
word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with
envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting
and blaspheming. Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary
that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing
ye PSALM. 145:1-9. I WILL magnify thee, O God, my King; and I will praise thy Name for ever and ever. Every day will I give thanks unto thee; and praise thy Name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and marvellous worthy to be praised; there is no end of his greatness. One generation shall praise thy works unto another, and declare thy power. As for me, I will be talking of thy worship, thy glory, thy praise, and wondrous works; So that men shall speak of the might of thy marvellous acts; and I will also tell of thy greatness. The memorial of thine abundant kindness shall be showed; and men shall sing of thy righteousness. The LORD is gracious and merciful; long-suffering, and of great goodness. The LORD is loving unto every man; and his mercy is over all his works. The Lesson from the Revelation And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. ALLELUIA, alleluia. Psalm 118:16. The right hand of the Lord bringeth mighty things to pass: the right hand of the Lord hath exalted me. Alleluia. Romans 6:9. Christ being raised from the dead now dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over him. Alleluia. The Continuation of the Holy Gospel At the last supper, when Judas was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. The Creed is said. OFFERTORY. Psalm 66:1,14. O be joyful in God, all ye lands; sing praises unto his Name: O come hither and hearken, all ye that fear God; and I will tell you what great things the Lord hath done for my soul, alleluia. SECRET. O God, who by the wondrous operation of this sacrifice, hast made us partakers of thy glorious Godhead: grant, we beseech thee, that we which are taught the knowledge of thy truth, may in all our conversation walk worthily of the same. Through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen. COMMUNION. John 15:5. I am the true vine and ye are the branches: he
that abideth in me and I in him; the same bringeth forth much fruit, alleluia,
alleluia. |
